Sikh Turbans (Dastar or Pagg)

Starching a Turban (4 Metres of Mal-mal Material)

1. Boil 4 cups (250ml each) of water in a pan.
2. Separately mix 8 tbsp starch with 125ml cool water, strain, then add to the pan.
Stir over medium heat until it thickens like gravy.
3. Pour into a bucket to cool. Soak a slightly damp turban until fully coated, lightly
squeeze out excess, and hang to dry in the sun or air dry in a well-ventilated
area
